Established in 2011, Catalyst Kitchens works with organizations like ours to design, launch, sustain, and grow food service job training social enterprises across North America. As a member organization of Catalyst Kitchens, we have received excellent training, tools and resources that enable us to offer our program while being participants in a national network of social enterprises that offer job training and food service. With a vision that all young people have what they need to thrive, and a mission of partnering with organizations to conduct and apply research that promotes positive youth development and advances equity, Search Institute provides us with up-to-date resources, tools and practices for our work with youth. Their 40 Developmental Assets offer perspective on what makes it most possible for teens in our program to thrive and their research on the value of building developmental relationships with young people supports our efforts. The Weikart Center’s research-based improvement system helps youth programs set meaningful improvement goals based on data, enact new practices, and create powerful developmental environments for youth. Through training and resources obtained through the Center for Youth Program Quality, we are investing in quality standards and measurements regarding best practices for youth programs. As a youth centered organization, we strive to place our students in the center of our work and mission. We encourage youth participation on our board and foster an environment where our youth can use their voices to lead, influence and share their experiences and perspectives with others.
